1996 Legend Chassis REG #3515. Power by Yamaha Viper 696cc. Wheelbase stretched to 96 inches for awesome handling on road course. No twitching! Chassis and body widened 13 inches to accommodate tuned pipes and transverse mid-mount Yamaha sled motor. Weight 1100 pounds.

Rear wing and Front aluminum air dam. Windshield laid back against A-pillars. Chassis/cage much stronger than any stock Legend. Triangles everywhere you look. Chassis and all metal parts powdercoated.

Kirky aluminum seat. Pyrotech belts. Removable steering wheel. Five-gallon fuel cell. Two-hour testing so everything is fresh, except motor.

Front suspension inboard coil-over-shocks with aluminum uprights and hubs. Ten-inch discs with Wilwood 4-piston calipers. Single Wilwood 4-piston caliper inboard at rear spool. Twin Wilwood master cylinders with balance bar.

LeGrand Formula Ford independent rear suspension. LeGrand aluminum uprights machined for VW sub axles and bearings. Uses VW dune buggy CV joint with 42 degrees angularity. Inboard suspension at all four corners consists of a vertical rod pushing on butterfly arm which pushes on inboard INEX600 Carrera shock/coil. Ride height adjusted by vertical rods. Six positions on butterfly wings. Five custom built swaybars range from half-inch diameter up to one-inch diameter. All 5 swaybars fit front or rear.

Power drives through Yamaha snowmobile VRT belt clutches to 530 sprocket arrangement allowing multiple final drive ratios by changing small sprocket or big sprocket. Solid spool in the center has two double-row high speed bearings. Power input on the right side of the spool from the big sprocket. Brake caliper on the left side of the spool squeezes drilled stainless steel disc with Wilwood caliper, same caliper as employed on front brakes.

3-seven inch-wide 13-inch Kaiser split aluminum wheels with Toyo 206/60R-13 86V RA1 at the rear. 3-six-inch wide 13-inch LeGrand FF magnesium wheels with Toyo 185/60R-13 80V RA1 at the front.

MOTOR – Yamaha Viper 696 cc with new VForce reeds and Tim Bender pipes. Estimate 180hp. No sound sweeter than a two-stroke triple at 8,000 rpm. EGT gauge on each exhaust pipe installed at the power valve. Two water temp gauges for cool water flowing in at the bottom of block and hot water flowing out of head. Highly modified Ian Tomassi Mikuni carbs and head.

DRIVING - Handles like a go-kart. I spent 12 years and more than $40,000 building it. Proved I could build it. Drove it fast for a few laps, so I proved it works. This was an enjoyable mid-life crisis, but now I’m 75 years old and probably should sell before I get hurt. Plus doc won’t sign my license physical. I raced a 2-litre Porsche 911S at Gimli Motorspoprt Park for 10 years. This Legend is faster than my 911 by far.

PRICE - Last time out blew rad hose and melted all 3 pistons. $8,000 Cdn with fresh engine. $6,000 as is. Car in Winnipeg.
